Biombrella is founded by Dr. Shalaka Samant who brings over a decade of expertise in the areas of molecular biology, strain manipulation, and synthetic biology amongst other areas which are a fundamental part of the drug discovery and development process. Dr. Samant has functioned as the principal investigator on several biotechnology research projects funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India. She has been the recipient of the prestigious American Heart Association predoctoral fellowship award. She has mentored several postgraduate students towards their dissertation research in diverse areas such as therapeutic protein expression in different hosts and development of cell-based assay platforms for drug specificity analysis. Dr. Samant received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from University of Illinois – Chicago and postdoctoral training from Yale university and University of Texas-Health science center. Recently, Biombrella joined hands with another established consultant from the health economics and outcomes research area – Dr. Nasreen Khan. Dr. Khan brings over 13 years of academic, consulting and pharma experience to Biombrella. She has worked in a variety of areas such as sourcing and analysing large real world data, analysing economic data from clinical trials, developing and monitoring observational studies, and has been a part of a host of other functions in the health economics and outcomes research space. She has numerous publications in leading journals to her credit. Dr. Khan received her Ph.D. in Pharmacy administration from the University of Illinois- Chicago. She was then Assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, University of New Mexico before moving on to play important roles in the corporate world of outcomes research.
